Therapy
An effective treatment of your child with autistic symptoms builds on the child’s interests, offer a predictable schedule, teach tasks as a series of simple steps. It actively engages the child’s attention in structured activities and provide regular reinforcement of desired behavior. Parental involvement has emerged as a major factor in treatment success. Parents work with therapist to identify the behaviors to be changed and the skills to be addressed. Recognizing that parents are the child’s earliest teachers, parent training is included to continue beyond the therapy.
Interventions target specific deficits in learning, language, imitation, attention, motivation, compliance, initiative of interaction and anxiety. Included are behavioral methods, communication, cognitive therapy along with social & play.
Treatment for Asperger’s coordinates therapies that address the core symptoms of the disorder: lack of communication and social skills, anxiety, obsessive or repetitive routines.
