Meditation towards Fulfillment

Relax and meditateIf you are new to meditation you might wonder what meditation is, why you should learn and how to start meditatingIn general, meditation can have many forms from still sitting, through meditative walking or other meditative activities. Beginners might be confused how to start meditating, they might quickly loose focus and patience. The best start is meditating while sitting. Keep the straight spine, right angle between the neck and chin, slightly tack the neck in, chest is open. One option is to sit on the floor – easy sitting pose (from yoga) – crossed legs, straight spine and hands rest on the thighs, palms facing u. The other option is to sit on a chair – straight, feet flat on the floor, hands rest on the thighs. There are few principles when learning to meditate:

-quiet environment – no distractions, no phones, ideally be alone in the room or with other people who are meditating, fresh air in the room, avoid practicing when you are very tired (no practice after heavy meal, coffee, alcohol or late at night); morning or early evening practices are quite good, avoid uncomfortable cloths and foot wear (no shoes or natural materials such as leather or cotton), start with few breaths to “tune in with yourself” – conscious breathing for 2-3 minutes, keep your eyes lightly closed and if you wish bring the attention between your eyebrows once you close your eyes; don’t force and keep your forehead relaxed, don’t rush, move consciously and slowly, use soothing music, burn scented candles or oils if you wish, learn to observe your thoughts and don’t direct them or don’t engage in their development. don’t have any expectations, don’t start with too long time ideally few minutes to start with is enough, try to build daily commitment and regularity before you start extending time of meditating.

Meditation is a skill and more you practice the better we become. Essentially, meditation is the practice when we learn non-judgmental self-observation; we listen our body and observe the activities in the mind. Meditation is experiencing ourselves and it is distinguished from relaxation. Meditation is to build self-awareness or passively explore ourselves. Meditation helps to develop mindfulness that is essential in feeling happy and it can be present in any activities.
